From Our President

Greetings to the Avon Park Holiness Camp community,

With the dawning of a new year it is a reminder that camp meeting is just around the corner. The 77th annual camp opens on Feb. 4th and closes on the 14th. Please begin to pray earnestly for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the camp.

I am excited about the outstanding team of evangelists that will be ministering to us this year. Both preaching evangelists, Dr. Jim Diehl and Dr. Earle Wilson will be here for the first time. These are two outstanding evangelists and leaders in the Holiness movement. Our song evangelist, Dr Gary Bond, will also be here for the first time. His rich baritone voice and Christlike spirit will add much to the services. Dr. John Neihof will be returning, but this time in the role of Bible teacher. These men not only preach and teach holiness, they live godly lives.

Please join me in praying that every service will be blessed with the wonderful presence of the Lord.

Warm regards,

-- Thomas H. Hermiz

Year End Financial News

Greetings to our camp family,

Our financial position looks really good from our preliminary year end financial reports. We will have some year-adjusting entries to make, including an entry for depreciation. At this time we are showing $454,575 as total income, and total expenses of $376,467, giving us a gross income of $78,108. I anticipate the depreciation deduction will be around $50,000, so we will be ending the year with a Net Income of around $30,000.

You will recall that at camp time last year we were able to purchase the home at 1110 Emmanuel Way and, of course, renovating the home has been our major project during the summer. I'm happy to report that the project has been completed. Tom and Ella Mae were able to spend the week of Board Meeting in the facility and enjoyed it very much. Tom has agreed we will plan an Open House for one of the afternoons during camp meeting. We were able to pay expenses as they happened and I want to thank each of you who helped us with your contributions and loans for the project. Now, we just need to pay back the loans.

I've been able to process four new Gift Annuities in 2015 totaling $65,000.00. The first Saturday afternoon of camp I will be leading a seminar on Gift Annuities, Wills, and Protecting Your Financial Security. Hope to see you there.

-- Bob Hudson, Treasurer

From our Director of Building and Grounds

Greetings to our camp family,

We are grateful to report that all of the apartments and dormitories were ready to receive guests by the middle of November. A lot of time was spent power washing buildings and sidewalks.

With the help of volunteers we've been able to get a lot of things done this fall. New privacy fences have been installed around the shower houses. The frontage wall along Highway 27 and the Jim Green Memorial Building have been painted. Two vinyl floors have been installed. New appliances have been installed in the 1110 Emmanuel Way house. Thanks to the women's auxiliary and Ramona Davis lots of work has been done to beautify our camp property with flowers.

We are so grateful for the help of Johnnie and Glenlyn Conley from Frankfort, Kentucky, who have come down to help us for a couple of months. Glenna and I volunteered with the Conleys on the Texas-Mexican border with World Gospel Mission in recent years. Johnny is one of those 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. kind of volunteers and can do everything. Just don't ask him to paint.

If you are interested in helping with some of the projects here, please get in touch with me and we will put you to work. My phone number is 863 449-7974.

Welcome back to those of you who are regulars and a special welcome to those of you who have come to experience Avon Park Camp for the first time.

-- Dale E. Dorothy

The Strange Preacher's Kid

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. -- John 1:14 NKJV

Susie decided to make the perfect fishbowl and adopt a goldfish. She chose the bowl carefully, selecting the very prettiest rocks and decorations, installing a bubbler to keep the water fresh, and dropping in the very nicest of plants.

Carefully selecting her goldfish, she told it how much she loved it, and how she had put together its new home so carefully, making sure it was the best it could be.

Her fish did not understand her. She tapped on the bowl, made fishie faces, and even wrote a note saying "I love you," but the fish did not understand. She realized that the only way she could truly communicate with this fish she loved was to become a fish.

Love came down at Christmas.

This Christmas full moon was the first since 1977 and the last until 2034 (photo and info courtesy of Addie Tackett).
