Vol. VII, No. 1

April 2015

From Our President

Greetings in Jesus' name,

The wave of sickness that swept thru the camp seems to be improving with the warmer weather. I trust that each of you are doing well.

We are beginning to make progress on refurbishing the house on Emmanuel Way that was purchased by the camp from the Kelleys. The goal is to have it completed by late summer. It has also become necessary to update and improve the housing we currently use to house our camp evangelists. Both of these projects will be very demanding on our camp resources. If you assist us financially during these summer months it will very helpful.

We are continuing to pray that before February's camp the Lord will provide a much better piano for the tabernacle. You can contribute to any of these projects by sending your gifts to Robert Hudson, treasurer. His address is 1115 Emmanuel Way, Avon Park FL 33825.

Our camp evangelists this year will be Dr. James Diehl and Dr. Earle Wilson. Dr. John Neihof will be the bible teacher and Rev. Gary Bond will be the song evangelist. The camp organist will be George Maddrell and the pianist will be Mrs. Aletha Sheets. Once again this will be a dynamic and anointed team. Please begin to pray for them and the camp meeting.

May the Lord continue to bless each of you in a very special way.

Yours in Christ,

-- Thomas H. Hermiz

From Our Treasurer

Thank you for your financial support of the Avon Park Holiness Camp. Your support during camp meeting surpasses the year before and our total income from January through March is $4,000 more than the year before. We would love to see that continue throughout the summer months.

During camp funds were provided, by gifts and loans, to purchase the house at 1110 Emmanuel Way. We are now in the process of renovations and plan to have an Open House in the fall. Contributions for these will be greatly appreciated.

-- Bob Hudson, Treasurer

The Strange Preacher's Kid

4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. --Ephesians 1:4-10 NIV

I have heard so many discussions, and yes, arguments, about predestination. Usually the debates center on whether we have free will to choose or reject Christ, or even if our life and actions are predetermined.

What does Paul say here? He tells us that God's plan was for man to be holy and blameless in his sight. How long did Adam and Eve walk holy and blameless with God before they succumbed to the wiles of the serpent? was it just a day? could it have been millenia? (I was thinking that once death entered into the picture, men lived to be well over 100 years, even over 900 years in many cases--why couldn't Adam and Eve have fellowshipped with God for even a million years?) Yet even before they became disobedient, God had already planned that there would be reconciliation, restoration to fellowship. He already had the plan where we could be adopted through Jesus Christ.

Throughout the Bible we see God revealing His plan to mankind. He demands holiness, yet came to provide the only way to holiness just so he could restore us into a right relationship with him. The plan is for ALL people, yet many will choose to ignore or reject the invitation. Were they predestined to reject God? No, their destiny was fellowship with Him, yet they chose the alternative. Let us pray for the lost in a loving and sincere way.

-- PAB
